About Curt
Hello friends and thank you for visiting my site! As you know, I am running for the office of Magistrate in Monongalia County, WV in May 2024. Now, let me tell you a little bit more about me, my history and why you should cast your vote for me in May. I have lived here, in Monongalia County for 47 years. I graduated from Clay-Battelle High School in 1989 and then went on to Fairmont State University where I received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, with a minor in sociology. I began my career in law enforcement in 1995 as a correctional officer for the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, back when we still had a county jail. I worked there for five years and then was hired by the Star City police department, working there for three years as a patrolman and K-9 officer. In February 2003, I was hired again by the Sheriff’s Department, this time as a Deputy Sheriff. I worked in that capacity for 19 ½ years. During that time, I once again served as a K-9 officer, spent many years on the SWAT team, was the defensive tactics instructor for all officers and court bailiffs, was promoted to the rank of First Sargeant, and successfully completed the first Drug Recognition Expert course that was offered in the state of West Virginia. During my 27 plus years in law enforcement, I have appeared before our county Magistrates countless times and am very comfortable in the courtroom. I did what I could as a Deputy to keep our families safe and now I want to continue that mission as one of Monongalia County’s next Magistrates!
